Emerging Costa Rican Artist & Designer based in Scotland with a background in Graphic Design, mixed-media and recent immersion into the glass material. This specific set of experiences give Juli a fresh and versatile vision when approaching research and the creative process by repurposing found objects and transforming them into precious artefacts that tell a story.
It is very important for kids to stay active and involved in creative work, especially during these changing times.

We asked Juli about the importance of creativity, and this is what she shared with us:

"Each object I create embodies the connection to that constant curiosity questioning where things come from, what is our impact on this planet and how everything is connected. By continuing to think with our hands, giving a chance to waste material and inviting our brain to see the potential of appreciating things from a different perspective."

"In a world where we can no longer compete with machines, our education systems need to be modified from teaching facts to thinking with our hands, a persistent spirit of inquiry that guides us into adapting to these uncertain times and building a more just world filled with beauty for everyone to appreciate."

We also asked Juli how can staying creative promote well-being in children and their families and this is what she said:

"By slowing down, going back to basics and making something with our hands like our ancestors did to survive. By connecting to this visceral bond between the maker/ material / moment in time and how this playful methodology is a tool to foster joy to replenish; a powerful life-force that can only be fostered within ourselves."
WHG is pleased to work with Juli B. We invite all of you to stay creative and to color her art.
